Random Thoughts/Observations on Japan

(Not in any order)
1) People are amazingly helpful to foreigners. More than once someone went
way out of their way to get me to where I needed to go. One guy drove my
friends and I a couple of miles in the rain and would not take money.
2) Overall a much stronger buy in of the social contract (I saw very little
littering and although crowded Tokyo was not as bad as San Francisco when
crowded)
3) I could write a novel about their modern toilets!
This article says it better
http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/technology/2014/04/toto_washlet_s350e_the_incredible_japanese_wonder_toilet_that_will_change.html
4) Right now the entire country is on sale due to the exchange rate
1 Japanese Yen equals 0.0083 US Dollars or

1 dollar = 124 Yen.

You can get a solid meal for 500 Yen or $4.15 and that includes tip!

5) Much more pride in their work (based on the guys I saw sweeping the
street and the guys on the train)

6) Everyone uses the convenience stores and they actually have food you
would want to eat.

7) Many great places to eat or drink are actual "holes in the wall". The
Black Horse Saloon would be a giant compared to many places in Japan.

8) No tipping = no stupid math/ethics test at the end of a meal.

9) You can bring a beer into the baseball game and they will give you a cup
to pour it into so you can finish it. (to me this is what I thought being a
grown up would be like)

10) The country seems very safe. I never locked my hotel room and I could
leave my luggage without worrying someone would steal it.
