A few weeks ago my iMac that I bought in 2010 (which came out in 2009)
started to get the volleyball of death.
Then it would turn on but was unable to boot up.
Brought it into the Burlingame Apple store and after a few days was told
that it needed a new hard drive (around $200).
I then did a little research and discovered I could still sell the computer
for around $500 (or $300 above the price of the repair)
After a parade of flakes, I was able to sell the iMac for $500 and met the
person at the store where they carried it out.
Bought a new iMac (refurbished) and started the process all over again.
I could not imagine another gadget that I would have gotten anything more
than a doorstop.
